London: More than 15,000 homes in Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex are being evacuated, while residents were also rescued in Rhyl, North Wales, and Merseyside as Britain's east coast is bracing for the most serious coastal tidal surge for over 60 years in England.
UK's environmental agency has issued 28 severe flood warnings.
According to the reports the serious tidal surge is predicted to hit the east coast tonight and 6,000 homes are expected to suffer from flooding in the next 24 hours.
Britain face deadliest flood in 1953 that left 307 people dead and 40,000 homeless.
According to Environment Agency in some areas, sea levels could be higher than those during the devastating floods of 1953.
British prime minister David Cameron said the Environment Secretary is chairing a meeting of the Government's Emergency Cobra Committee to discuss the response to the storm.
