PM Narendra Modi declares his assets
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has made the asset declaration of PM Modi as of June 30, 2020. According to PMO's declaration, PM Modi's wealth has seen an increase of Rs 36 lakh from Rs 2.49 crore in 2019 to Rs 2.85 crore by June 2020. As per the declaration, the rise in PM Modi's wealth is due to the fixed deposits amounting to Rs 3.3 lakh and increase in his bank fixed deposists by Rs 33 lakh from 2019. Read more here

Fitch expects marketing, refining volume of oil firms to fall 15% in FY21
With coronavirus lockdowns pummelling fuel demand in India, Fitch Ratings expects the marketing and refining volume of state-owned oil firms to fall by more than 15 per cent in the current fiscal year before a gradual recovery in 2021-22.
"Pent-up demand and the upcoming festival season may support fuel sales in 3QFY21 (October-December), but a sustainable recovery would be subject to risks from the continuing spread of the coronavirus hindering mobility and economic activity," Fitch said in a note.

Rajinikanth pays property tax, says rushing to court was a mistake
Top actor Rajinikanth on Thursday paid Rs 6.56 lakh property tax, including penalty, for his marriage hall and said an appeal should have been made to the city corporation and the "mistake" of rushing to court could have been avoided.
Greater Chennai Corporation said the actor paid Rs 6,56,000 towards property tax for his marriage hall at Kodambakkam.
The Rs six lakh plus tax for 2020-21 first half year includes "late pay penalty" of Rs 9,386, the civic body said, adding it was paid by way of a cheque.

Puducherry adds 245 new coronavirus cases, two deaths take toll to 570.
The union territory of Puducherry reported 245 fresh COVID-19 cases while two more deaths pushed the toll to 570, Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao said on Thursday.
The 245 new cases were identified at the end of examination of 4,649 samples, he told a virtual press meet.
The Puducherry region had 174 of the new cases followed by Karaikal (39), Mahe (27) and Karaikal (5), he added.
The Minister said that 2.5 lakh samples have been tested so far and it was found that 2.14 lakh samples out of them were negative.

Unidentified, decomposed body found in Noida drain
A partially decomposed body of an unidentified man was found in a drain in Uttar Pradesh's Noida on Thursday, police said. The body was spotted in a drain in Sector 37 by some passersby in the morning who alerted the local Sector 39 police station, officials said.
"The deceased appears to have been around 32 to 36 years old. The partially decomposed body looks around four days old," a police spokesperson said.
Legal proceedings have been initiated in the case and efforts are underway to ascertain the identity of the man, the spokesperson said

3 labourers mowed down by truck in UP's Shamli
Three labourers were crushed to death under the wheels of a speeding truck in Shamli district on Thursday, police said. Sanjiv, Shubham and Parvesh aged between 22 to 27 years died in the incident while another worker received critical injuries and was hospitalised, police said.
The four were travelling to Fatehpur village from Banat village on a motorcycle when the accident occurred, circle officer Amit Saxena said. The truck driver managed to escape from the spot along with the vehicle, police said.

UP Man, his brother sentenced to 15 years in jail for raping daughter
A man along with his brother has been sentenced to 15 years in jail by a court in Banda for raping his minor daughter. Special court (POCSO Act) on Wednesday also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on the two convicts for raping the 13-year-old, government counsel Ram Sufar Singh said on Thursday. The case was lodged on March 14, 2016 by the coordinator of Childline in Pailani police station, Singh added.
