6. Tane Ikai Tane Ikai, a Japanese supercentenarian, was born on January 18, 1879 in the village of Kansei, Aichi Prefecture. She had three sons and a daughter, and had outlived all of her children. She died on July 12, 1995, becuase of kidney failure. Ikai was 116 years, 175 days at the time of her death and also holds the records of the oldest person from Japan and Asia.
5. Maria Capovilla An Ecuadorian supercentenarian, Maria Capovilla, was 116 years 347 days at the time of her death. Maria was born on 14 September 1889 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. She had twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Maria Capovilla is the oldest person ever of South America. She succumbed to pneumonia in the last week of August 2006, just 18 days before she would have celebrated her 117th birthday.
4. Marie Lousie Meilleur A French Canadian supercentenarian, Marie Lousie Meilleur was born on August 29, 1880 in Kamouraska, Quebec, Canada. She had 85 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, 57 great-great-grandchildren, and four great-great-great-grandchildren. Meilleur smoked tobacco into her nineties and died of a blood clot. She was 117 years, 230 days at the time of her death.
