Breaking News: October 4, 2020 | Highlights

1,632 COVID cases detected out of 33,656 tests in Assam today. Total number of cases now at 1,85,444 including 1,48,960 discharges, 35,746 active cases and 735 deaths.

Jharkhand reported 877 new COVID-19 cases, 1,176 recoveries and 5 deaths today, taking total cases to 86,277  including 74,604 recoveries, 734 deaths and 10,939 active cases. 

27 deaths and 1,811 fresh COVID-19 cases reported in Madhya Pradesh today. The total number of positive cases in the state is now 1,33,918 including 19,807 active cases, 1,11,712 recoveries and 2,101 deaths. 

Haryana reported 1,188 COVID-19 cases, 1,542 recoveries and 25 deaths today, taking total cases to 1,32,576 with 1,18,258 recoveries, 1,450 deaths and 12,868 active cases. 

Gujarat reported 1,343 new COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths today. Total cases in the state rise to 1,41,398, including 1,21,119 discharges and 3,490 deaths. Active cases stand at 16,789. 

1,106 new COVID-19 cases and 61 deaths have been reported in Punjab today, taking the total number of cases to 1,17,319 including 14,289 active cases and 3,562 deaths. 

252 new COVID-19 cases reported in Manipur including 24 personnel from CAPF in Manipur. Total positive cases now at 11,649, including 2,497 active cases. 9,081 discharged cases and 72 deaths till date. Recovery rate is 77.95 %

Uttarakhand reported 503 new COVID-19 cases taking the total number of cases to 50,062. 

Delhi reported 2,258 new COVID-19 cases, 3,440 recoveries/discharges/migrations and 34 deaths today. The total number of cases rise to 2,87,930 including 2,57,224 recoveries/discharges/migrations and 5,472 deaths. Active cases stand at 25,234. 

Chandigarh reported 148 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of cases to 12,360 including 1,792 active cases, 172 deaths and 10,396 cured cases. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate RAISE 2020– a global virtual five-day summit on artificial intelligence on October 5, said Ministry of Electronics and Information technology. 

Nagaland Police issued a statement, "Odd/even scheme notified for non-essential vehicular movement within Dimapur town and NH-29 till Chumudekima town w.e.f  October 5- October 31. Odd number vehicles to ply on Monday, Wednesday and Friday while even number vehicles to ply on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday."

7,834 new COVID-19 cases, 4,474 recoveries and 22 deaths reported in Kerala today, taking the total number of active cases to 80,818. 1,39,620 people have recovered in the state so far. 

Andhra Pradesh reported 6,224 new COVID-19 cases, 7,798 recoveries and 41 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking total positive cases to 7,13,014, including 6,51,791 recoveries, 55,282 active cases and 5,941 deaths.

3,665 new cases of  COVID-19 and 4,860 recoveries reported in the last 24 hours. There are total 47,823 active cases, while 3,56,826 have recovered. The recovery rate stands at 86.89%. The death toll stands at 5,977 now.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi travels from the South Portal of the Atal Tunnel at Rohtang to the North Portal of the tunnel located in Sissu, Lahaul Valley.

• After construction of this tunnel at the height of 10,040 feet, Himachal Pradesh, a small state, has got recognition not only in the nation but in the whole world. There is no other tunnel of this length at this height

• Border Roads Organisation completed construction of Atal Tunnel within its estimated cost of construction. This tunnel is dedicated to the soldiers guarding our borders & those living near border areas: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at Rohtang

• Atal tunnel will give new strength to India's border infrastructure. It is an example of world-class border connectivity. There have been demands to improve border infrastructure but for a long time, such projects either couldn't get out of planning stage or got stuck midway

• Connectivity has a direct connection with development. Connectivity in border areas is directly related to security issues

• Atal Ji laid the foundation stone of approach road of this tunnel in 2002. Till 2013-2014, progress was made only on 1,300 meters of this tunnel. After 2014, the project progressed with unprecedented pace

• Emphasis has been put on the development of border infrastructure. Its benefits are being extended to the common people as well as our armed forces personnel

• There is nothing more important for us than protecting the country. But the country has also seen that a period when the defense interests of the country were compromised

• Many other important projects were treated in the same way as Atal tunnel. The strategically important Daulat Beg Oldi airstrip in Ladakh remained closed for 40–45 years. I don't want to go into details as to what was the helplessness and the pressure behind it

• I request the Ministry of Education that the students of engineering & technical studies related universities should be given a chance to do a case study of Atal Tunnel. The students must learn how this tunnel was built: PM Modi at the inauguration of Atal Tunnel, Rohtang

Media allowed to enter the village of the victim of Hathras case. Sadar SDM Prem Prakash says, "Since SIT probe in the village is complete, the restriction on media has been lifted. More than 5 media persons are now allowed to gather as Section 144 of CrPC is in place."
