Sao Paulo: Police in Brazil's biggest city say they've detained around 90 people amid violent demonstrations over the police killing of a 17-year-old.

It's the latest night of protests in Brazil. While the size of demonstrations has tapered off June, violence has increased.

At least five commuter buses and three tractor-trailer trucks were burned by protesters in Sao Paulo late Monday. Police say some groups of mostly young men looted stores. A major highway heading north out of Sao Paulo was temporarily blocked.

The protests erupted after the weekend shooting death of teenager Douglas Rodrigues by a police officer as authorities responded to a disturbance of the peace call.

Police say the shooting was accidental, but haven't given details. The officer who shot the boy is in custody as an investigation continues.
