Bizarre, meet the world's hairiest girl

New Delhi: Teased her whole life, Supatra Sasuphan gets called "Wolf Child" and "Monkey Face" by the other kids. Now, though, the Guinness Book of World Records has named Supatra Sasuphan the world's hairiest girl, and suddenly she's the coolest kid at her school. The schoolgirl face is covered in hair through a rare genetic condition which afflicts just 50 people worldwide, initially faced merciless teasing at school in Bangkok. But rather than let the condition ruin her life, Supatra says she enjoys being a world record holder and is even one of the most popular girls at her school. Sasuphan has a condition called hypertrichosis also known as Abras syndrome, which causes hair to grow over her entire body, even her face. Congenital hypertrichosis is extremely rare, and has only affected around 50 people since the Middle Ages. Abras syndrome has also been called "werewolf syndrome", but no lycanthropy is involved, which is good news for the kids who teased Supatra Sasuphan. She works hard and is one of the better students in her school, and even has ambitions to become a doctor - so she can 'look after the sick and her own family'. Likewise her parents, who found out about her condition when she was born, say she is just 'a normal little girl'. Supatra herself insists her condition is just 'who I am', adding that she 'does not even think about'. For now, there is no cure for the condition and no hair removal methods have been successful for Supatra, who aside from her appearance is just like any other preteen: She loves dancing, listening to music and watching cartoons. Doctors tried several rounds of laser hair removal treatments on Supatra when she was a toddler, but her mane grew back each time.
