Anti-Hindu book author Wendy Doniger lashes out at Indian law

Washington: American Indologist Wendy Doniger whose book “The Hindus: An Alternative History” was withdrawn following objections that it hurt sentiments of Hindus is “angry and disappointed” over the development and says the “true villain” is

Doniger said she is “thrilled and moved by the great number of of messages of support that I received, not merely from friends and colleagues but from people in India that I have never met, who had read and loved ‘The Hindus', and by news and media people, all of whom expressed their outrage and sadness and their wish to help me in any way they could.”

The American scholar whose research and teaching interests revolve around two basic areas, Hinduism and mythology has over 30 books to her credit.

Among her translations are “Hindu Myths: A Sourcebook, Translated from the Sanskrit”, “The Rig Veda: An Anthology”, “The Laws of Manu (with Brian K. Smith)” and a translation of the Kamasutra (with Sudhir Kakkar).
