New Delhi: Missing Air Algerie passenger flight AH5017 with 116 people onboard has reportedly crashed near the capital of Niger, Niamey.
According to the reports, the plane lost radar contact 50 minutes after take off from Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on early Thursday. The flight was scheduled to land at Algiers' Houari Boumediene Airport about four hours later.
Swiftair, which operates the plane for Air Algerie, said that the Flight 5017 was dropped off radar, prompting a search for the missing plane.
"We have lost contact with the plane," Swiftair said.
"At this moment, emergency services and our staff are working on finding out more on this situation," it added.
The plane, an MD-83, was carrying 110 passengers, two pilots and four crew members.
