Lake Baikal
Made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996, Lake Baikal is not only one of the clearest lakes in the world, but it is also the deepest, with sections of the lake almost 5,400 feet deep.
With it's base in Mongolia and Russia, Lake Baikal is home to in excess of 1,500 species and is said to hold around a fifth of the entire world's fresh water.
