Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has announced a distance education programme for 10 lakh Yemenis from the beginning of the new academic year, the media reported on today.
Launched by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, the programme will cover both male and female Yemeni students who live or seek refuge in Djibouti and Saudi Arabia, Xinhua news agency reported.
Saudi Education Minister Ahmed Al-Isa said the agreement on the programme was signed on Tuesday between the Yemeni government and Saudi Education Development Company.
Saudi Arabia was forced to close many schools near its borders with Yemen when the Saudi-led military operations against Houthis in Yemen began in March 2015.
