Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi today claimed that his country has developed short-range nuclear weapons as a counter to the "Cold Start" military doctrine of Indian armed forces.
Abbasi further said that Pakistan has a very robust and very secure command-and-control system over its strategic nuclear assets which has been proved by time.
"As far as tactical nuclear weapons, we do not have any fielded tactical nuclear weapons. We have developed short-range nuclear weapons as a counter to the Cold Start doctrine that India has developed," he said while addressing an event organised by the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.
The Pakistani Prime Minister alleged that India was indulging in aggression along the LoC in order to draw attention away from the genuine struggle of the Kashmiri people.
He also added that Pakistan wants "normal relations with India, but on the basis of trust and respect".
