Malaysian Fighter jet missing, search operations launched

Malaysian Fighter jet went missing on Thursday after it lost contact with the RMAF at 11:30 am.

On Thursday, Malaysian air force fighter jet was reported missing. A search and rescue operation has been launched. A report by Malaysian National News Agency states that the Royal Malaysian Air Force reported that it has lost contact with a Hawk 108 fighter jet. 

It is believed that the jet has gone missing north of Kuantan near the Pahang- Terengganu border. The RMAF reported that it lost the contact at 11:30 am after the aircraft took off the Kuantan airbase. Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein tweeted his concern over the incident and prayed for the pilots’ safety.
