Ivanka Trump, entrepreneur daughter of US President Donald Trump, took to twitter on Wednesday to extend Diwali greetings to Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. Interestingly, she used the Indian phrase “Saal Mubarak” to convey her Diwali wishes.
Ivanka also added that she was looking forward to her India visit next month for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES). During his state visit to the US in June this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had invited Ivanka for GES summit in Hyderabad which she had accepted.
“Wishing Hindus, Sikhs & Jains around the world a joyful #Diwali. Saal Mubarak to all! Looking forward to my visit to India for #GES2017,” Ivanka Trump tweeted.
Ivanka had joined her father at the Oval office on Wednesday where the US President kicked off Diwali celebrations by lighting diyas. Senior Indian-American members of Trump's administration, including Nikki Haley, US Ambassador to the United Nations, and Seema Verma, Administrator, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services were also present on this occasion.
Speaking on this occasion, Donald Trump Trump had said that he was deeply honoured to be joined by so many administration officials and leaders of the Indian-American community in celebrating Diwali. The US President also added that he deeply valued his "very strong relationship" with PM Modi.
"As we do (celebrate Diwali) so, we especially remember the People of India, the home of the Hindu faith, who have built the world's largest democracy," Trump wrote in a Facebook post along with a video of his Diwali celebrations inside the Oval Office.
