US president Donald Trump today heaped praised on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for working tirelessly to uplift the people of India and bring them at one common platform.
Trump, who is on a 12-day visit to Asia -- the longest by any US President in more than 25 years, today arrived in Vietnam to attend a summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.
“PM Narendra Modi has been working very successfully to bring the people of vast country of India together as one,” the President said.
The 47-second long video of Trump’s speech was tweeted by the BJP’s verified account.
The President also commended India for being the world's largest democracy and for achieving high growth.
"India is celebrating its 70th anniversary. It's a sovereign democracy, as well as...think of this... (one) of over one billion people. It is the largest democracy in the world," he said.
Trump’s praise for India and PM Modi comes just months after the two leaders of the world's largest and oldest democracies had a very successful meeting in Washington.
