In yet another attack on minorities in Pakistan, a 56-year-old doctor from the Hindu community was shot dead outside his clinic by unidentified men in Pak Colony at around 11 pm on Thursday.

In yet another attack on minorities in Pakistan, a 56-year-old doctor from the Hindu community was shot dead outside his clinic by unidentified men in Pak Colony at around 11 pm on Thursday.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Pireetam Das. He was sitting in his clinic located on Hasrat Mohani Colony at midnight on Thursday when someone attacked him.

The doctor’s attendant had gone to buy a mobile card when the doctor was killed, Akhtar Farooq, SSP Investigation, said, adding that they are yet to identify the motive behind the incident.

“Hearing the gunshot, the assistant rushed to the clinic and found the doctor bleeding,” Farooq further said.

The deceased was a general physician who ran a clinic near Bara Board in Pak Colony for the last 15 years. The doctor’s clinic was located in a residential area and the incident occurred when there was a power failure in the area.

SSP Investigation said the suspect(s) did not take any valuables.

Earlier, two members of the Hindu community were among three people shot dead in an attack on a wine shop in the Abbas Town area of the metropolis.
