New Delhi: A 22-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a multi-storey building in Janakpuri area of the national capital.
According to police, the incident took place at around 4 pm this afternoon, when Rahul, a resident of Bindapur, jumped to death from the fourth floor of DDA building at District Centre situated in Janakpuri area.
"A PCR call was received following which the youth was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival. An information was sent to the deceased's family.
No suicide note has been recovered from the spot," said a police official.
Reportedly, before committing suicide, Rahul slashed one of his fingers and wrote a girl's name on the wall of the building.
"Rahul and his father Vijender Singh, ran a factory in Bindapur area. His parents had gone to their native village in Greater Noida, UP when the incident took place," the official said.
The reason behind his extreme step is yet to be ascertained, police said.
