Kolkata: Navy will organise yoga sessions for those posted on-board warships and remote stations in Andaman and Nicobar islands to mark the first International Yoga Day this Sunday.
Elaborate preparations for conducting yoga are being carried out for all units dispersed over the islands, an officer of the Andaman and Nicobar Command said.
Besides warships, sessions would also be conducted on remote stations like Shibpur, Carnic, Kamorta and Campbell Bay islands.
Services of Yoga qualified personnel are being taken in order to derive maximum benefit from the event, sources said. In addition, service personnel of various units of the command have also been trained in a yoga capsule run by civil administration.
A short film on Yoga is being shown at the auditorium in Birchgunj along with regular screening of films, in order to further educate the soldiers, their families and children.
In Port Blair, these Yoga sessions will include talks by experts, discussion on health issues, demonstrations before practising various asanas, and meditation therapy.
