New Delhi, Nov 5: After Rahul Gandhi, NDA convener Sharad Yadav on Friday alleged that women were raped in Bhatta Parsaul in Uttar Pradesh during the anti-land acquisition agitation by farmers in May and demanded a CBI probe into police actions.
Yadav made the demand after a delegation of farmers from the village met him at his residence and apprised him of the “fearsome” situation that had prevailed there during the agitation.
CB-CID officials of Uttar Pradesh investigating the cases had recently been summoned by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC).
Yadav said a CBI probe is necessary as people do not have any faith in the CB-CID probe.
“I on behalf of my party and NDA demand a CBI probe of that fearsome and obnoxious incident of crushing the peaceful agitation of farmers,” Yadav said.
He alleged people were forced to fled from their houses due to fear of police which had fired on unarmed farmers and old men.
“On May 7 night with an eye on crushing this agitation, loot and incidents of rape were carried out and no cases were registered in any police station,” Yadav said in a press release.
