New Delhi: India's defence system got a series of boosts during 2015 with a lot of emphasis being laid on modernisation of equipments under the new scheme 'Make in India' by the government.India saw many achievements in the defence sector. In addition to that, government is determined to include various advance defence weapons which the other countries have. The Indian government has already inked several deals with other countries like France and many other are in the pipe line.We are going to take you through such changes in the defence system that will make India stronger as a nation to take shoulder to shoulder with other nations like America:INS VikrantLike its name it proves itself as a courageous career that played a clinching role during the war of 1971 against Pakistan in Bay of Bengal.After being commissioned in 1961, INS Vikrant was the prime target in 1965 war. Pakistan claimed to have sunk Vikrant while in reality it was far away from harms.After a long period of glorious service, INS Vikrant was decommissioned on 31st January 1997.But the nostalgia of the name continues as it happened that the new aircraft carrier which will be built indigenously is also to be named INS Vikrant.It has taken its motto from the Rig Veda, 'Jayema Sam Yudhi Sprdhah' ('I defeat those who fight against me').Coming to its size which has been measured 15,000 sq metres, its height is almost equal to 18 storey building.INS Vikrant is the 5th largest carrier in the world and promise to be a crowing glory in to the future of India Navy.RafaleDuring his last year's Paris visit, PM Narendra Modi had convinced the French President to agree to ink an inter-governmental agreement (IGA) on the sale of 36 French fighter jets.Rafale jets are capable of air to air counter attack, can be deployed for several different locations and are even capable of nuclear delivery, a single Rafale carrying 9 ton of explosives. During strategic missions Rafales can deploy nuclear missiles and can also be refuelled in mid air.This Indo-French deal can also provide another important benefit, as soon as the final agreement is signed. The 'Make in India' programme is looking forward to set an aircraft production unit right here on Indian turf taking India to step closure to military self sufficiency.SubmarinesIndia along with France is constructing Scorpene-class submarines and by 2020 all of these will be commissioned for Indian navy service.Scorpene submarines are 67 meters long, 6.2meters wide and its guided missile can accurately attack enemy targets.Another feature of this submarine can confuse torpedoes and anti ship missiles to dismantle enemy target on surface or under water.Laser wallsLaser wall is a mechanism to detect objects passing the line of sight between the laser source and the detector.To stop infiltration from Pakistan, India's border security force has adopted an indigenous way called 'laser walls'. The Indo-Pak border in Punjab will soon feature 40-50 places where laser walls will be installed. Usually these are installed on rivers where fencing is impossible.As of now there are 40 vulnerable points which are covered by laser walls.
