WB govt to build houses, distribute seeds in flood-hit areas

Kolkata: The West Bengal government has taken up a programme to spend Rs 75 crore for construction and repair of houses of villagers and Rs 10 crore for distribution of seeds and fertilisers among farmers

State Agriculture minister Malay Ghatak said Rs 10 crore would be spent for distributing seeds of various crops and fertilisers among the farmers affected in those districts within November 15.

The worst affected four districts are West Midnapore, East Midnapore, Howrah and Hooghly, he said.

Nearly, 2.2 lakh people were affected in the floods which hit six districts of the state, including Bankura and Burdwan, claiming 17 lives.
