7. Mandu - Madhya Pradesh Mandu is an epitome of love, a celebration in stone, of life and joy. It is a tribute to the love shared between the poet-prince Baz Bahadur and his beautiful consort, Rani Roopmati.
This pavilion was built by the prince Bahadur to impress Roopmati.
But this love story had a tragic end as in a war with Mughal Emperor Akbar, Bahadur died. Roopmati could not bear the pain and she committed suicide in the pavilion. Still there are not one but several such forgotten kingdoms that tell the grim romantic tales of these beautiful lovers.
This city is famous for its exotic mosques, palaces,pavilions and mausoleums.
One should not miss to see the fascinating monuments of Mandu – Haathi Pul ,Hindola Mahal and Jahaz Mahal apart from the Rupmati Pavilion. This city truely is a symbol of love and you would never regret a visit here.
