Patna: In the aftermath of the stampede at Gandhi Maidan here which left 32 dead and 22 injured, people were seen fighting security forces at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in search of their missing relatives.  The hospital has been cordoned off by security forces as desperate kin attempt to rush in.

Personnel of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and district police have been manning the entrance of the Emergency ward of PMCH where victims of stampede have been brought.

Inspector General of Police Kundan Krishnan, DIG Ajitabh Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj and Patna Commissioner N Vijaylakshmi are present at the PMCH to supervise the security arrangement.

Vinod Gupta of Salimpur Ahra locality of Patna, told PTI outside the PMCH that there is no information about his mother Gayatri Devi and his wife Ranjana Gupta.

“They are not letting me inside the Emergency ward to locate my mother and wife,” a wailing Gupta said.  An inconsolable teenager Tunni of Jakkanpur, was seen fighting with security forces to go inside PMCH in search of her mother.

Sumita Devi of Chirayatand locality, looked desperate as she waited for news about her grand-daughter Pooja who got separated from her in the melee.

District Magistrate of Patna, Manish Kumar Verma said that the dead bodies would be handed to their relatives after confirming their identity.
