Lucknow : The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday decided to implement a revised pay scale band for class four employee as per the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission, a move that will benefit three lakh workers.
"The state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mayawati in its meeting has decided to extend a salary band of Rs 5200-20200 and grade pay of Rs 1,800 to all class four employees," principal secretary information Vijay Shanker Pandey told reporters here.
He said that while the decision would benefit nearly three lakh employees, it will create an additional burden of Rs 350 crore per annum on the state exchequer.
"With this, the state government has decided to stop recruitment to class four posts with immediate effect," Pandey said. The cabinet also approved a proposal to extend revised pay scale to teachers and equivalent cadre of agriculture universities in the state.
It also approved a proposal to give advances to the state employees for construction or purchase of house, car, two-wheeler and personal comupter as per the recommendations of the state pay committee, he said.
The state government also decided to regularise services of daily wage and casual workers appointed by it before 1991.
The decision to rergularise those appointed in various departments, local bodies, housing board and development authorities will put an additional burden of Rs 80 crore on the state exchequer.
The decision will benefit 26,800 part time employees and will create an additional financial burden of Rs 80 crore on the state exchequer, he said.
Pandey said that additional posts will be created to accommodate work charge and daily wage employees. "At present there are 10,000 work charge and 9,800 daily wage employees in different departments, who were engaged before 1991," he said, adding that their regularisation will create an additional financial burden of Rs 20 crore on the government.
Similarly, there are 3,000 daily wage employees in the local bodies and 4,000 daily wagers and work charge employees in housing board and development authorities.
"The decision will create an additional financial burden of Rs 60 crore on the local bodies, housing board and development authorities, which will be borne by these institutions," he said.
He said that the government had already banned appointment of daily wage and work charge employees from June 29, 1991. PTI
