Jammu: The revered Mata Vaishno Devi cave shrine in Reasi district got the season's first snowfall as around 12,000 pilgrims were on their way to pay homage. Trikuta hills and nearby areas received season's first snowfall last night, shrine board officials said.
Despite the snowfall, over 12,000 pilgrims are on their way to the cave shrine to pay their obeisance, they said. Braving the chill, pilgrims were seen shouting hymns and moving towards the Bhawan from Katra, the base camp of the shrine, they said.
Bhaderwah town of Doda district received two feet of snow and its adjoining hilly areas received about 3-4 feet snow, reports said.
Reports from Kishtwar said that the town received 6 inches of snow, while its hilly areas received 2-3 feet of snow.
The upper reaches of Rajouri and Poonch districts of the Jammu division also recorded snowfall and light showers in Jammu and plains last night.
