Uttarkashi tunnel rescue: PM Modi speaks to CM Dhami after evacuation of 41 workers
Uttarkashi tunnel updates: The rescue workers on Tuesday drilled through the 60-metre stretch of the rubble of the collapsed Silkyara tunnel in which 41 workers have been trapped for the last 16 days. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke to workers who were rescued.
Uttarkashi tunnel updates: All 41 workers trapped in Uttarakand's Silkyara tunnel were rescued Tuesday evening, ending an ordeal that stretched almost 17 days. Around 8 pm, an ambulance with the worker sitting in the vehicle left the mouth of the tunnel and was headed to a community health centre. A team of NDRF and SDRF entered the steel chute to reach the trapped workers and brought them out on wheeled-stretchers one by one. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Minister VK Singh were present at the rescue site and they welcomed the evacuated workers at the tunnel. Later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X, "The success of the rescue operation of our labor brothers in Uttarkashi is making everyone emotional. I want to say to the friends who were trapped in the tunnel that your courage and patience is inspiring everyone. I wish you all well and good health." The PM also spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and congratulated him for the success of the daunting operations.

Vertical drilling underway, likely to take around 50 hrs more to complete remaining work
At least 43 metres of vertical drilling for the 1.2-metre diameter pipe from the top of the hill has been completed. According to the information, it can take another 40-50 hours to complete the remaining work. 78 metres of vertical drilling for the 8 mm diameter pipe from the top of the hill has also been completed. Further drilling has been temporarily halted as there was a minor issue in the pipeline. Manual drilling is underway smoothly, inside the tunnel.

Speaking to reporters at the rescue site, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said engineers, experts and others are working with all their strength.
