New Delhi, July 3 : An alert India TV viewer Mohammed Fayaz has sent a video of cars, buses being washed away by the furious Mandakini and Vasuki rivers on the morning of June 17 in the holy town of Sonprayag.
Sonprayag is the place, where the Vasuki and Mandakini rivers meet. Normally it a place for pilgrims to rest before their onward journey to Kedarnath.
According to Mohammed Fayaz, who came to India TV studio in Nodia, to narrate the horrifying experiences, there were a large number of cars, buses and SUVs parked in the main market of Sonprayag.
As dawn rose, the turbulent rivers swept the town inundating the main bazaar. Drivers sleeping inside the parked buses hoped the river water level would soon ebb, but they were proved wrong.
The bus drivers had to scurry out of their vehicles and run for safety, as the flood gobbled up all the vehicles, one after the other.
An SUV Tavera was washed away within a matter of seven seconds.
