Haridwar: Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat on Wednesday compared Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi to gods inside a temple.
"They are just like gods inside a temple. The priests may change, but the idols of gods shall continue to remain", said Rawat while addressing party workers before launching election padyatras.
Not more than 300 Congress workers assembled for the padyatra because of delay in the chief minister's arrival.
The padyatra was supposed to begin at 10 am with PCC chief Yashpal Arya and CM Harish Rawat. The workers waited for nearly three hours at Saptarishi. When the two leaders did not arrive, the workers began to leave.
The chief minister joined the padyatra from Devpura, and by the time the rally ended the number had dwindled to 200.
