Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government will soon organise job fairs across the state, Labour and Employment Minister Shahid Manzoor said Tuesday.
The state government is in the process of involving private players in the fairs, Manzoor told IANS.
The result of such job fairs organized in the past has been heartening, said the minister.
"In the past two years these job fairs have been held at a modest level and have been successful. We now want to take it at a larger scale for the benefit of the unemployed in the state," the minister added.
Labour department officials said the state government had organized 234 such fairs in 2012 through which 8,201 unemployed people got jobs. The number of jobless getting employment rose to 24,579 through 594 job fairs organized in Uttar Pradesh in 2013.
"The results are very encouraging and the state government is committed to create more jobs and fairs in association with private companies," an official said.
The Uttar Pradesh government is in the final stage of rolling out more job fairs in the current financial year.
