Bangalore, Mar 31: A three-member U.S. Congress delegation yesterday called on Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj and Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar.
"The U.S. delegation met the Governor at the Raj Bhavan and interacted with him for 90 minutes discussing about the laws of both the countries," BJP MP Janardhana Swamy, who is coordinating the delegation's visit, told PTI here.
The delegation, comprising political and business persons, called on Shettar and later visited some parts of the city and met Shettar over dinner, he said.
The delegation's visit and also their meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has sparked a controversy over the funding of their visit, with Congress and BJP trading charges against each other.
The three U.S. Congress members, who spoke for an American visa for Modi, have rejected allegations questioning the legitimacy of their trip.
The U.S. delegation included Cynthia Lummis (Republican Congresswoman from Wyoming) and Cathy M Rodgers (Republican Congresswoman from Washington).
