Ahmedabad, Mar 29: The visiting delegation of US lawmakers today held talks with Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry here to explore bilateral trade opportunities.
Aaron Schock, a senior Republican Congressman who is heading the delegation, hailed India's progress on various fronts.
“You are right above the opportunities here in India for US companies. In fact most of the companies, international companies based in my state of Illinois have already invested in India. Companies like Motorola as well as Abbot laboratories has actually done business in India for over 100 years,” said Schock.
Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi hosted a dinner reception for the delegates at Gandhinagaron Thursday night. The delegates were all praise for Modi after the meet and invited him to visit the US.
The delegation of American lawmakers extended the invite despite Washington denying him a visa since 2005 because of communal riots that took place in Gujarat in March 2002.
Vijay Jolly, vice president of Delh BJP, was among the special invitees at this meet.He lauded Modi's efforts to develop Gujarat.
“I hope there would be many more NMs Narendrabhai Modis who dreams, who sleeps with the idea of empowering his own people”, said Jolly.
