Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday announced to open liquor shops in orange and green zones districts between 10 am to 7 pm. However, in hotspot districts, the liquor shops will remain open only in non-containment areas. Meanwhile, bars, hotels, and restaurants are not allowed to sell liquor.
People in the liquor shops are advised to strictly follow the social distancing norms and only five people will be allowed to stand at a shop at once. Standalone shops are also allowed to be opened during the third phase of the nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Meanwhile, buying and selling tobacco will remain prohibited in the state, while spiting at the public places will be treated as an offence.
Uttar Pradesh, currently, has 1,838 active COVID-19 cases while 43 people have died due to the deadly contagious virus. However, 698 coronavirus patients have been recovered in the state till now.
