New Delhi: There is a dramatic modus operandi being adopted by Pakistan's Inter-Services Agency (ISI) to elicit sensitive information from Indian officials that can then be passed on their masters on the other side of the border.

Documents in the possession of India TV reveal that the ISI-placed spies in India used the charm offensive to the fullest to gather sensitive information from unassuming officials in the Border Security Force and the Indian Army. A spy ring busted by Indian intelligence agencies can put one to shock.

As per intelligence agencies, 6 to 7 spies worked for this ring and all operated as couples. Intelligence agencies say that the spies managed to get access to key officials in the BSF and the Army through the ladies.

These ladies first made contact with the wives of these officials and socialised with them to gain more access and confidence. These ladies used to pose as exporters of dry fruits, spices, shawls or carpets and establish contact with the officials' better halves. After some interactions, once the confidence had been won, they took the next step to introduce the officials' wives to their husbands.

According to intelligence agencies, the primary intent was to mingle with these officials and their wives and gain access to their personal parties and get-togethers where they would have the opportunity to interact with more officials. To establish their allibi, these spies even used to gift officials items related to their stated area of business and win their trust.

The meticulous planning was one of precision and accuracy as they devoted a patient 4 to 5 months for the entire process. Once the confidence was won, the next step was to gather information which could then be passed on to their handlers.

As per sources, several officials passed on sensitive information unintentionally, without even realising the sensitivity of the information they were passing on and whom they were sharing it with.

Even details such as movement of forces, convoys etc. was passed opn without the realisation of its gravity and consequences.
