Tirupathi, AP, Oct 12 :Three gold idols worth Rs 1.25 crore were found in the donation hundi of Lord Balaji at the famous Tirupathi temple here.
The idol of Lord Venkateshwara weighs 2.571 kg and is 24 inches in height. The idols of Goddesses Padmavati and Lakshmi weigh 81 and 101 gms respectively.
According to Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam trust sources, the three idols have 552 rubies, 187 emeralds and a sapphire embedded on them.
An unknown devotee donated these idols in the hundi on September 28, but due to administrative resons, the news of this donation was kept secret.
TTD sources said, the three idols will be kept in Sri Venkateshwara Museum for public viewing.
The museum houses valuable ornaments and artefacts of Lord Balaji which are not normally used during prayers, said L V Subramaniam, executive officer, TTD.
