Agartala: Two tribals, including son of a ruling CPI(M) leader, have been allegedly kidnapped by the National Liberation Front of Tripura militants from Manyakumarpara, a tribal hamlet in Dhalai district, the police said today.
A group of about eight to ten ultras armed with sophisticated weapons raided the village last night and kidnapped Alindra Tripura (22) and Gunadhar Tripura, SP Police control, Uttam Bhaumick said.
Alindra is the son of former village chairman and ruling CPI(M) leader, Falguni Tripura. The ultras have demanded ransom for their release, the SP said.
The ultras might have sneaked into Chittagong Hill Tract (CHT) of Bangladesh as the border is not very far from the place of occurrence, Bhaumick said.
The police and Tripura State Rifles have launched a search operation in the area.
