Raipur, Aug 7: Two CRPF commandos were killed in an IED blast triggered by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district early today, the second Maoist strike in the state in as many days.
A Tata-407 vehicle was blown up near Rajpeta village under Basaguda police station area of Bijapur district killing two CoBRA commandos on the spot, state Additional Director General of Police Ram Niwas told PTI.
The commandos, identified as constable K P Singh and Mukul Burman, were carrying rations for a CRPF camp nearby when the blast occurred.
A police team was rushed to the spot and the bodies were being brought to Raipur by air, the ADG said, adding search operations have been launched in the area.
The blast took place near Basaguda, where joint security forces had carried out a controversial encounter last month.
The attack comes just a day after Maoists blew off an anti-landmine vehicle killing a CRPF trooper in the Naxal hotbed of Dantewada.
