Itanagar, Apr 9: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki said his government's vision was to make Pasighat, the centurion town, as an education hub and the knowledge city of the state.
“The town has been in the limelight for its stupendous development in various sectors including infrastructure, education, agriculture to note a few,” Tuki said after inaugurating the Bogong Banggo Kebang (highest body of the Adi tribe) convention at Pasighat in East Siang district yesterday, an official communique informed here today.
The chief minister said the people of Pasighat are lucky enough to get a state university, polytechnic and are also going to get an agriculture college, railway services and an airport soon.
He informed that his government has already launched a website for transparent financial and other dealings of the state through its e-governance policy.
“For better policing and to ensure better law and order, a DIG headquarters will be set up at Pasighat,” he informed while hoping that the rail and air connectivity for Pasighat will boost tourism sector in the district.
Tuki also assured to provide CT (Computerised Tomography) Scan Machine to the Pasighat General Hospital to modernise it.
Making an appeal to the people to welcome hydropower in the state for a better and wealthy Arunachal, he said, “The projects once come up will not only meet the demands of water and electricity but also help to set up industries, control flood and bring in development in agricultural sector which would make Arunachal a financially strong state and minimise unemployment problems”.
“The district has immense potential for hydro power which should be exploited,” Tuki observed adding, “It will be environment-friendly and its effect on environment will be minimal”.
Regarding beautification of Pasighat township, Tuki said that once Municipality is established funds for the purpose will be made available under Urban Development.
Necessary funds for construction of teachers' quarters and maintenance of school building will be taken up by the education minister, he added.
