New Delhi, Oct 3: Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding that the Centre take immediate steps for formation of a separate Telangana without further consultations with political parties on the issue.
Rao, who has been camping in New Delhi for the past few days, met Dr. Singh along with a huge delegation consisting members from his party and the Hyderabad-based Telangana Joint Action Committee which is spearheading the movement for a separate state.
During the meeting, sources said, Rao briefed Dr. Singh about the situation in Telangana region where a general strike has crippled life for the past 22 days.
They said Rao also told the Prime Minister that the Centre should immediately take steps for the formation of a separate state.
Rao had on Sunday rejected the government's decision to hold further consultations on the issue. He had also said it was time for the Centre to deliver and not use comforting words. PTI
