Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today broke silence on farmer Gajendra Singh's suicide and said that guilty should be hanged. He urged political parties to stop politicising the incident and rather focus on the issues that are forcing farmers to commit suicide.
Kejriwal also accepted that continuing the speech after the incident was an error and apologised for it.
Aam Aadmi Party leader Ashutosh today broke down to tears while speaking to deceased farmer Gajendra Singh's daughter Megha Singh during a debate on a private news channel.
"I am guilty, Megha. I could not prevent the death of your father….. I hope you are able to forgive me for your father's death” the AAP politician said while participating in a live discussion for Headlines today. He also urged party leaders not to politicise Singh's death
For the first time in 45 years, the Rajya Sabha on Friday unanimously passed a private member's bill to give equal rights to transgenders.
"It is a unanimous decision of the house... This is a rare thing," Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien announced after the bill was passed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday there was need to think on how to develop villages.
"Mahatma Gandhi said that India lives in the villages. We need to think of how to develop our villages," Modi said at a conference on National Panchayati Raj Day here.
