With temperature soaring day by day, even hill stations are being grilled by the Sun now. Those who have already been to the hill stations of their choice are returning disappointed as not only was the snowfall missing but infact the average temperature of the day was also almost like of any other city.

So, before you head to some place, quickly check the hill station/s which will actually be a cool getaway in this rising heat.

1. Ooty

Ooty is one of the best places to beat the summer heat but not this time. This hill station is not worth a visit this summer.

It's located in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. Also referred as Udhagamandalam or Ootacamund - Ooty is situated amidst the Nilgiri hills at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level.

This place would have been the option to visit last summer but not this year. Earlier, to visit this place you didn't need to think much as it enjoys a favourable climate all year round however this time it's advised to avoid this place as the max temperature of this place is around  27℃ / 80℉.

The best time to visit this place is between October and December.

2. Shimla

Shimla is one of the most iconic and famous hill stations of India. Now, the capital of Himachal Pradesh- the city was the former capital of Punjab and was established by the British as their summer capital in the 17th century.

With its spectacular vista, Shimla is a region that is highly appreciated for its ethnic culture and eternal beauty. It's also often called the ‘Queen of Hills'.

This place is without a doubt delight for the eyes. But this summer, Shimla is more of a torture than a delight to please your eyes.

It's advised to avoid this place as the max temperature of this place is struggling between 35℃ / 96℉.

The best time to visit this place is December to February.

3.Manali

Manali is located in the Beas River Valley at an altitude of 2050 meters above sea level, in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

Due to its location amidst the Kullu district and the Himalayas, the city enjoys one of the most pleasant climate all round the year.

It's the best time to get honeymoon tour packages and enjoy the serene beauty of this majestic place.

Early June is the best time to visit Manali and if you love skiing then just go for it.

You can beat the heat and pack your bags to enjoy the max temperature at 10℃ / 49℉.

Do not forget to carry warm clothes as the temperature sometimes falls up to 7℃ / 44℉ to -4℃ / 24℉.

4.Munnar

This hill station is placed at an average elevation of 1700 meters above sea level in the Western Ghats in Kerala. Munnar is famous for its lush green mountainous surrounding and its vast tea plantations.

It can be an option to visit but not much favourable to enjoy to your best as the temperature presently is struggling at 29℃ / 84℉.

The climate is pleasant and favourable throughout the year with the months between December and May the best time to visit.

5.Gulmarg

Gulmarg or “Meadow of Flowers” is nothing less than a castle in the air. The valley is 3km long and a kilometre wide. This scenic place is filled with beautiful blueberries, daisies and many other flowers that will surely lighten up your mood. It also has a popular golf resort and renowned as a prime skiing destination.

This place too can be a choice after Manali as it settles at 24℃ / 74℉ having its maximum temperature.
