RajivGandhi International Airport, Hyderabad
A relatively new airport in the city of Hyderabad, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, is an international airport which is also the sixth busiest in India by international and overall passenger traffic.
Named after former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, replaced the former international airport at Begumpet.
While the design and construction of the airport began in September 2005, it was opened in March 2008.
The airport was built on a public-private partnership, the second of its kind in India, by the GMR group with a cost of Rs. 24.7 billion.
Spread over 5500 acres, the airport has the capacity to handle 40 million passengers annually.
