Green City:
Gandhinagar- The city is rightly called the “Green City” of India due to the presence of plenty of trees and plants. The city is very well maintained and greenery is found on both sides of the roads. When observed aerially the city looks green.
It is the capital of the state of Gujarat in Western India. Gujarat's new capital city, lies on the west bank of the Sabarmati River. It is very well known for the Aksahrdham Temple and because the city was the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi.
Chandigarh- Tree plantation and landscaping has been an integral part of the Plan. Twenty six different types of flowering and twenty tow species of evergreen trees have been planted all over the city. The roads in Chandigarh are surrounded by trees and it has the third highest forest cover in India. Therefore it is called the “Green City”.
It is the capital of two states Punjab and Haryana, and the Union Territory of India. This is the first smoke-free city in India.
