Chennai, Jan 2: On New Year's Day, the readers of the South's most powerful English daily 'The Hindu' were amused to find a full front page colour ad given by a Congress leader which read:
“We remain, Madamji, ever at your feet”
After coronation,
Shri Ramachandramoorthi
asked Hanuman
‘What reward would you like to have'
The Loyal Worker
humbly replied
“Let me remain
ever at your feet”
Wishing you, Madam, a very Happy New Year
in which you will be hailed as a Global Leader
H. Vasanthakumar, M.A.
Member, AICC, General secretary, TNCC
Vasanthakumar also runs Vasanth TV in Tamil Nadu.
In Tamil Nadu politics, where politicians lie prostrate at the feet of AIADMK supremo Jayalalitha, this was expected.
But it has raised the hackles of Congress leaders sitting in Delhi, who believe that the leader could have toned down the language of his fawning ad.
A quick run through Wikipedia reveals the following about H. Vasanthakumar.
Born April 14, 1950, he is the owner of Vasanth & Co, one of the largest consumer electronics and home appliances retail chains in Tamil Nadu.
He also owns Vasanth TV. He was elected to Tamil Nadu Assembly in 2006 from Nanguneri constituency.
Hailing from Agastheeswaram, Kanyakumari district, he wrote a sort of autobiography Vetrikodi Kattu, which was released in 2006 by superstar Rajinikanth and his wife Latha Rajinikanth.
His son Vijayakumar has appeared in three Tamil films.
