Mumbai, Dec 13 : Suburban train services were restored late on Thursday night after a technical glitch which continued for nearly 90 minutes, but the trains were now running late, the public relations officer of Western Railway said.
There was signal failure between Khar and Santacruz and the entire suburban services on Western Railway line were disrupted.
Thousands of suburban passengers were stranded at railway stations because of the disruption in service.
The first major signal failure was noticed at 9:05 pm. Not a single moved between CST and Dadar for nearly 40 minutes.
As the signal defect took time to be rectified, some of the trains were run manually to ease the rush of commuters returning home. Signal glitches were noted on both side of the tracks.
The harbour line was also affected. Andheri-bound trains were being run upto Bandra and back to Chhatrapati Shivaji terminus.
