A Tata Safari belonging to the Ministry of finance was stolen from the high security North Block area recently, reports Mail Today.
An FIR was lodged at the Parliament Street police station on Tuesday.The SUV also has a sticker of the ministry of home affairs (MHA) on its windscreen.
The police have declared a high- alert as the SUV can be misused.
The police of all districts and in the national capital region have been alerted.“ The Tata Safari bearing the numberplate DL2CM- 7801 was parked near gate number 8 in North Block by driver K. P. Rai. It was stolen within half- an- hour. Rai had gone inside to fetch some documents,” a police officer said.
A section officer in the ministry of finance, K. K. Sapra, registered the FIR. Sapra told the police Rai had taken the car around 10.25 am.This is the second such incident in recent days.
In October, a pilot jeep of the Rajya Sabha deputy chairman was stolen from outside the residence of its driver in RK Puram's Sector 5.Around 5.15 am, driver Niranjan Mohanty woke up to the sound of the Bolero's engine. He rushed outside, only to see the vehicle being driven away. Raising an alarm, he chased the car on his motorcycle till Vasant Vihar but failed to stop the carjackers.The car was found abandoned the next day in Mahipalpur.
