Gopeshwar: Thick sheets of snow today shrouded the famous Himalayan temples of Kedarnath, Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib as the higher reaches of Garhwal Himalayas received fresh snowfall, while the lower areas were lashed by rains causing a sharp fall in temperature.
The snowfall which started last evening in the upper areas of the mountains in Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts is still continuing, Disaster Management official Nandkishore Joshi said.
Fresh snowfall in the mountains and rainfall in the lower areas have brought the mercury down by several notches forcing people to remain indoors, he said.
