New Delhi: In a latest revelation made by a book, My Years with Rajiv and Sonia, written by a former close aide of the Gandhi family, a Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) spy had found refuge in their family who passed on crucial information related to Rajiv Gandhi's visit to Tamil Nadu, where he was assassinated by an its suicide bomber.

According to RD Pradhan, the author of the book, Sonia Gandhi, the present chief of the Congress party, too feels the same.

“Someone inside 10 Janpath provided crucial information to the LTTE infiltrator. I am sure that Sonia Gandhi feels the same way," he writes.

Pradhan, while smelling foul play on the part of Tamil Nadu Police and intelligence, asked how the LTTE came to know the exact date, time and venue of the assassination.

He also thrust on the need of asking whether the then Tamil Nadu Governor, Bhishma Narain Singh, had taken personal interest in the security arrangements of Rajiv Gandhi including whether he had also taken the initiative to get former PM's visit to Sriperumbudur rescheduled.

After Rajiv's assassination, Pradhan writes, Sonia continued to take his help in many ways. He claimed that Sonia had a great depth of understanding of the Indian politics.

Furthermore, citing the findings emerged in the enquiries of the two commissions -- Justice Verma Commission and Jain commission -- he said that there is no doubt in his mind that a 'mole' from the LTTE had found refuge in the Gandhi family.

While the Justice Verma Commission probed the security lapses of Rajiv Gandhi leading to his assassination, the Jain commission looked into the security lapses.

RD Pradhan had served as the Union Home Secretary and Governor of Arunachal Pradesh during Rajiv Gandhi government. Pradhan, who was in service of the Government of India for nearly 36 years, was also in-charge of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's office between 1998-2003.

Rajiv Gandhi, the eldest son of Indira and Feroze Gandhi, and also one of the most powerful politicians from Nehru-Gandhi family, was assassinated by an LTTE woman suicide bomber in Sriperumbudur of Tamil Nadu on May 21, 1991.
