Varanasi, Jan 15 : About Rs 24 lakh cash was recovered from Dr Laxman Das, a noted astrologer from Varanasi during a security check at the Lal Bahadur Shashtri International Airport near here on Saturday.
According to police, Dr Laxman Das, who runs ‘Ekta Jyotish Paramarsh' near Sankat Mochan Mandir here, was to take a flight to Delhi but was stopped after Rs 23.68 lakh was found in his baggage during the security check.
The CISF personnel informed the police, who took the astrologer to a police station. During questioning, dr Laxman Das could give the details of only Rs 11 lakh, they said.
The amount has been handed over to the Income Tax department.
Dr Laxman Das is a known figure for selling Shri Nava Grah Kavach through teleshopping and internet. He deals mostly in gems used for astrological purpose.
