New Delhi: Bengali author Taslima Nasreen figures on top of a list of "targets" posted by the Bangladeshi jihadi group Ansarullah Bangla on Facebook.
The Facebook page is claimed to be run by Ansarullah Bangla Team, and the list features names of 14 bloggers and secular writers, who have been critical of Islam and other religions.
The new list, according to Bangladesh daily Dhaka Tribune is as follows: Taslima Nasreen (USA), Omar Farooq Lux (Germany), Farzana Kabir Khan Snigdha (Germany), Arifur Rahman (UK), Asif Mohiuddin (Germany), Sannasy Ratan alias Samaddar Ratan (Norway), Subrato Shuvo (Norway), Julius Ceaser, Abdul Mamun, Susuptu Pathak, Nirjhar Majumdar (Sweden), Santanu Adiv (UK), Kadar Ali and Azam Khan.
The Facebook post threatened to eliminate the "atheists" one by one, and said anyone involved with publishing of books by atheists will also be targeted. A similar threat was given to anyone making anti-Islam films or videos.
A spokesman of Dhaka Metropolitan Police said, it was difficult to analyse all threats posted on the internet. He added that police would rather rely on its own intelligence to take action. Joint Commissioner of Dhaka Police Monirul Islam said, police would first assess the credibility of the threat.
Ansarullah Bangla Team has claimed responsibility for the brutal murders of atheist bloggers including Ahmed Rajib Haider, Asif Mohiuddin, Avijit Roy, Oyasiqur Rahman, Ananta Bijoy Das and AKM Shafiul Islam.
Taslima Nasreen is presently living in Delhi in an undisclosed location. She has been provided security by Delhi Police.
