Arunachal Pradesh man, who attended Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Nizamuddin West, Delhi has tested COVID-19 positive, making the first case of coronavirus in the state, sources said. Seven others have been quarantined after their samples were sent for testing for coronavirus. As per sources, all of them had travelled to Delhi. Earlier in the day, a Manipur man had tested COVID-19 positive who also attended Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh rose to 132 on Thursday as 21 more persons tested positive for the virus, officials said. According to State Nodal Officer Arja Srikanth, 21 new cases were reported since 10 p.m. on Wednesday. The majority of them are those who had attended Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Delhi last month. The number of positive cases has doubled during last 24 hours. As many as 67 people had tested positive on Wednesday. The official said 1,800 samples were tested so far. The results of 493 samples are awaited. Out of 1,800 samples tested, 758 samples were of those who attended Delhi event and 543 of their contacts.

India coronavirus cases are nearing 2,000-mark as confirmed patients currently stand at 1,965. The sudden surge in the positive cases have been witnessed after Tablighi Jamaat's event in Delhi. While positive cases are approaching 2,000 mark, at least 50 people have lost their lives.
