New Delhi: The Supreme Court today gave the country's premier investigating agency CBI a breather, by staying the Gauhati High Court verdict declaring the agency as unconstitutional.
The apex court will take up the matter for hearing on December 6.
There shall be a stay of operation of impugned judgement of Nov 6, passed by Gauhati High Court, the apex court said.
The apex court observed that the judgement has to be stayed as accused in two sensational cases have sought stay of the trial.
The court issued notice to petitioner on whose plea the High Court passed the judgement.
The court refused the preliminary objection that Department of Personnel and Training was not authorised to file appeal in the matter.
